Participation of the open joint-stock company «Stakhanov wagon works» in the project of tunnel building under the La Manche

In 1988, “Transmachlink” Company began building the channel tunnel under the La Manche. For 3 tunnel construction required by the project some 40 thousand tons of track sections had to be manufactured.

The French company “Transmachlink” organized a tender to pass the order to one of the factories of the former Heavy Engineering Ministry (“Mintyazhmash”), USSR. Despite a heavy work load and high responsibility for the execution period, the leading factories of the Ministry were ready to fulfill the order. Taking into consideration the production facilities, processing potential and a huge experience in freight car building, the French party among other experienced factories gave preference to OJSC “Stakhanov Wagon Works “ and, as it turned out later, made wise choice.

At the earliest possible date our engineers developed and introduced special assembly welding stands on which the first section assembled, welded and passed comprehensive structural strength tests.

The quality of the articles was controlled by the representatives of international company “Veritas Bureau”.

Âuring 4 years we manufactured and delivered in time to the customer about 40 thousand tons of metalwork.

Many welders at OJSC “Stakhanov Wagon Works “ got Veritas Bureau Diplomas certifying their high skill and the right to carry out complicated welding operations at the West European companies.

The welding process at OJSC “Stakhanov Wagon Works “ was standardized by the Veritas Bureau and confirmed with the corresponding Certificate.

The factory staff fulfilled the order with honor and justified the confidence of the customer.

Our plant ranked third among the Project participants as to delivery volume.

The participation in the Project placed our factory among the best companies of Europe.
