Forty years in the freight wagon market

Joint-Stock Company “Stakhanov Wagon Works “ is one of the most modern and promising enterprises of Ukraine, producing freight wagons.

On June 29, 1965 the 1-st phase of the plant was put into operation, whose annual capacity was 10 thousand tons of metal constructions for tower cranes, walking excavators, cat-heads and other kinds of equipment.

From 1967 the works was specialized on producing metal constructions of frameworks of high-power boilers for building the thermal and hydroelectric plants.

In December 1969, the works was repurposed to produce freight main-line railway cars. Already in the beginning of 1970 the Works gates left the first railway flat-car with 63 tons, mastered production of the wheel sets and railway bogies.

In 1976 the works has started manufacture of cars for mineral fertilizers.

In subsequent years the design office of the plant developed technical documentation for railway cars of different purposes and specialized transport means with carrying capacity 63÷400 tons.

There was mastered production of railway carriers of aerial, well, articulated , platform and coupling types, cars for timber, cement, alumina, construction material of 20-ton carrying capacity for bulk cargoes and cement, long-length platforms for transportation of multi-tonnage containers and wheel equipment, special railway carriers with carrying capacity up to 240 tons for transportation of superpower transformers and large-capacity power equipment, special carriers for transportation of fuel from atomic stations, dumpcars with carrying capacity of 66 tons, 105 tons and 150 tons , wheel sets for freight cars, two-axle bogies and other products.

Within the period from 1987 to 1988 the works was granted a number of awards by the Ministry of Heavy Engineering for development on saving rolling consumption during mass production of light weight car axles, for the development, mastering and production platform type railway carriers of 120 tons, model 14-6063, for development, mastering and production of a railway car for granulated polymeric materials, model 17-495 and a mineral fertilizer car , model 19-923.

In 1987, the Council of Ministers of Ukraine entitled the works a prize “The enterprise of high quality production”.

In 1990, the group of the employees of the works was awarded the prize of the Council of Ministers for the work “Complex scientific research, elaboration, commercial development and put into operation of the highly effective large-capacity railway carriers”.

For creation of the best models of new machinery the plant was awarded with diplomas, medals and valuable gifts (automobiles ) of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy.

From 1988 to 1992 by the order of French company “Tranmashlink “ the works produced and delivered 40 thousand tons of welded metallic structures for building the Chunnel. The execution of welding operations under this contract was certified by the corporation “Bureau Veritas “ (France ).

The works gained positive experience in delivery of products to the foreign partners: to Germany – metal goods (flanges ), to Israel –elded metallic structures, to Iran – gogies and wheel sets of track gauge 1435 mm, to South Korea – unique 16-acle railway carriers of articulated type with carrying capacity 170 tons.

By order of “Minatomenergo” of Russia two railway carriers TK-13m for transportation nuclear fuel waste were manufactured in the shortest possible time.

In 2003, mass production of new cars started : hopper car with enlarged body, hopper car with pumping between rails, oil car for transportation of refined oils, gondola car with blank body and gondola car with bottom unloading, which meet all the requirements to the new generation cars.

Within the space 40 years the plant produced about 100000 freight cars, which are in operation in many countries of the world.

All articles of the OJSC “ Stakhanov Wagon Works “ are manufactured in accordance with the interstate standards (GOST ), state standards of Ukraine (DSTU) , international and European standards and certified according to SS FGT System.
